JW Parents getting... DIVORCED

hello everyone!it has been quite some time since i've posted, but a lot has happened.

i am still with my boyfriend (mentioned in my past and very first post!

) life is going well.

A similar scenario with the congregation I was associated with some years ago. A very prominent "Sister" in the congregation who was employed with county legal services, very intelligent and quite attractive but not at her physical peak. Over a period of months she lost weight, regained her figure and became very attractive. Then suddenly, one evening at the meeting it was announced that she was disfellowshipped. Her husband, an MS, was quite distraught. I was with the elder who was consoling him that evening and discovered that she had left her husband to pursue a relationship with another man. While I had seen other cases prior of young "sisters" being DFd for promiscuity I had not seen a case like this. Maybe it isn't such a rare thing...

Blood Transfusion & Loss of Salvation?

in my reading on this site ive read ppl in org were afraid of losing salvation if they had a blood transfusion.

like its the unpardonable sin or something (of course it is not, the bible never says not to have a blood transfusion).

ive read all i could find on jw.org but nothing about what would happen if you had one.

What does The Word tell us about "salvation?" Is it possible to "lose it?"

They really don't mind that there are many who do not believe they exist. They understand that life can be difficult and brutal and as a consequence many have come to doubt.

No matter. The doubters be very pleasantly surprised and in several hundred years of very pleasant living will come to forget that they ever doubted. All will be made good. That is the promise.

Pause icon design

hello: back in the 60's, i knew a designer for the ampex corporation.

one day, f. arden farey, the manager of industrial design gave him the task to create an icon for pause since the company was marketing in foreign markets and the word "pause" didn't translate well in most foreign languages.

he looked at pause and finally decided that it was a "sorta" stop.

Your story brought to mind the first tape recorder experience I participated in. I belonged to the Cub Scout Wolf Pack at Arthur Elementary School, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Our weekly Cub Scout meetings were held at the home of Doctor Boyson which was four blocks from the school building. One afternoon at our meeting the Doctor's wife (our Den Mother) brought out a suitcase sized machine which had the two magnetic tape spools, one of those "green glow tuning eye" volume indicators, a built in amplifier and speaker and a small square microphone. She demonstrated the machine and recorded our voices and played them back for us. It was pure magic! This was the event which triggered a life-long fascination with things electronic and an adult career much later in electronics technology. The year was 1948 and I was seven years old. Back in those days many of my classmates used to bring "war souvenirs" to school; guns, swords and knives mostly that were brought back from the war by their fathers or relatives. My how times have changed!

Ampex was a big name in tape recorders and magnetic tape back in those days. Very interesting story. The symbols stuck.

Did Jesus pre exist? Yes or no?

when i first became a witness, i always found the teaching about jesus being the arch angel michael hard to swallow.

i did however believe that jesus pre existed as a master worker alongside god (the first of his creation).. but now everything is brought into question having watched anthony buzzard explain why jesus could not have pre existed as it is impossible to pre exist yourself.

also the fact that it all sounds contradictory to suggest, he was already alive millions of years before he was transferred to mary's womb to be born as a human - the son of man?.

What a wide range of beliefs! The Word promises that one day we shall all know Truth. In the meanwhile we all form experience based opinions of both polarities. Which means that when the time comes many will be happily satisfied while others will be pleasantly (or not so pleasantly) surprised.

No matter. The story has a very happy ending. We'll all be made whole.

now i just heard 50 dead and 200 injured.

whatever it is it just another nut case who was able to get a high power gun to kill people.

Finding Truth can often be a difficult process. If you have any acquaintances in law enforcement who are able to speak candidly you will find verification. At the moment there are few other alternatives.

I'm sure that you have reasons Simon, but can't help thinking at the same time how this resembles the sort of counsel independent thinkers within The Cult receive should they question "truth" as promoted by the WTBorg Cult Inc. Perhaps we've reached a point in societal development where it is impossible to escape cult controls.
